Large Teak Sideboard by Gunni Omann for ACO

Mid Century teak sideboard.

Refurbished and in good condition.

This vintage credenza features the carefully crafted, solid teak trim around the front and top, three sliding doors each with sculpted, solid teak handles, and four solid wood drawers for a very clean and minimalist streamlined look; the drawers have handles recessed into the front face of each drawer front. The sideboard sits on large tapered, solid teak legs.

The sliding doors open to reveal 2 cupboards with a fully finished teak interior: a small one with an adjustable/ removable shelf, and a double-sized cupboard with a single large adjustable/ removable teak shelf.

Gunni Omann built a reputation for having created a range of alluring credenzas, desks and other furnishings during the postwar years, and his fans reportedly included the likes of legendary designer and woodworker Hans Wegner. Serving as the main designer in his father’s company, Omann Jun Møbelfabrik A/S, Gunni is known to enthusiasts of Scandinavian modernism for iconic works.

Outside of the family business, Gunni Omann worked with Axel Christiansen Odder/ACO Møbler. Still, regardless of who Omann designed for, each piece of furniture places the natural beauty of the wood grains at the forefront of its design.

Small imperfection due to its age, but the piece is in good overall condition, especially considering its age and recent restoration.
